In an environment where sources of research funding are increasingly under pressure, it is ever more essential to demonstrate that our research aligns with important national challenges. The RISCS Problem Page highlights the problems that the RISCS community have identified as among the most urgent for sociotechnical researchers to help address. Each of these direct challenges has been proposed by key RISCS stakeholders.
These problems and solutions cluster around four key themes:
- Barriers and Incentives (including Economics)
- Future Risks and Resilience (including AI)
- Cultures and Communications (including International Relations)
- Usability and Trust (including Insider Threat)
Robust research into these areas is likely to underpin and complement the best work produced in any part of the cyber security ecosystem, including work on secure by design, cyber-physical systems, verification, security software and hardware.
