New resource: Preppers’ Kit 2047

In the past, keeping candles in the kitchen drawer in case of a power blackout was a symbol of cultural, mundane, and domestic resilience. What could be an equivalent of that candle in 2047, in a world where energy resilience will depend on our collective and individual abilities to cope with cyber security risks?

With funding from RISCS, Advisory Board member Dr Ola Michalec commissioned artists Elliot James and Paul Graham Raven to offer their commentary on this issue using the medium of fiction and design. The result is Preppers’ Kit 2047, a report and set of resources developed as a speculative response to cyber security disasters in energy infrastructures.

Ola, Elliot, and Paul are looking for venues and events where they could exhibit this work to the members of the public and practitioners interested in cyber security, energy, resilience, or design. If you would like to get involved in disseminating this project, please get in touch with Ola directly: ola.michalec@bristol.ac.uk.
